Supply Chain Management

Project Brief

I worked with the supply chain client to create a web application that would be useful to the company as well as marketable to their future clients. The product we built had a series of dashboards to monitor and manage the distribution of products across the globe. Since the pandemic, companies have had to become more strategic with their supply chain management and this web application facilitates this through displaying future predictions calculated by historical trends.

Tools Used

User Research

I conducted a series of user interview sessions where I talked with key stakeholders to make sure I was capturing all their requirements. I used FigJam to keep track of the notes so the users and I could visually brainstorm concepts.

“We need to have the right stuff, in the right space, at the right time.”

Developing Personas

After conducting interviews, I synthesized my notes along with the business knowledge I had gained through working with the business analysts on my team.

Data Visualization Research

One unique aspect of this project was the need for data visualizations to display product categorization and shipping information. The business analyst I worked with had a background in data visualization, so we were able to brainstorm different concepts that displayed the correct information effectively and compellingly. I made sure to include accessibility considerations for information processing and cognitive overload by ensuring the user had multiple ways of viewing the same information i.e. table view or graph view. We also made sure that the color contrast was readable for monochromacy color blindness.

Accessiblity Considerations

I wanted to make sure that the product was not just accessible but also visually appealing. For the map view, I explored different color themes that would be accessible for colorblindness while matching the client branding. For the bar graphs, we looked at stacking them or layering them.
