Cruise Event Portal

Project Brief

On this project, we worked with a cruise company seeking to improve & digitize the user experience of their cruise certificate portal. This portal is used by both the cruise company & their land-based partner casinos to manage guest lists for events where cruise certificates are given out as prizes to the winners. We built this portal using Microsoft's PowerPlatform.

User Research

Through conducting design thinking sessions, I learned the product needed to be simple & intuitive so that even in a chaotic casino environment the user would feel comfortable using it. I also learned that the client had three sub-brands that already had their own style.

“It is important that the certificate events go as smoothly as possible because we want casinos to want to work with us.”

Developing Personas

When we conducted interviews with the stakeholders & users, we identified that there were four main personas: the call center agent, the casino partner, the cruise administrators & the marketing executives. I organized the information we learned into a persona template so that the client could clearly see the pain points and needs of each persona type.

Getting Started

One unique challenge for this project was creating a visual style for a multi-brand company. For the portal, I wanted each brand's style to shine through while creating a repeatable pattern for the development team to use. I achieved this by creating a limited palette for each brand using their brand colors. I also created a third default style (Sunset Cruise) for the company to use if they were hosting a multi-brand event.

These are the original colors for all three brands along with the multi-brand theme (Sunset Cruise)

Branding

I created a moodboard for each of the brands along with the multi-brand theme, so that the client could get a general idea of the direction I would take for the portal. Each moodboard shows the header, primary colors, illustration colors and button styles.
